Where is the turbo located on my 2003 volvo s40
hey guys , new volvo owner ...
2 questions I recently bought a 2003 volvo s40 , and have been curious to where the turbocharger is located , i have google searched and havent been able to find any help , also im not even sure if my car is turbocharged because it dosent say s40 on the back left , or 1.9t on the back right , it just has the volvo letters on the top middle of the rear end..... 2nd question is my car recently overheated , the fan kept running about 5 minutes after i shut it off.... started the car again 2 hours later and drove it maybe half a mile and it went up to the red again , and the fan stayed on... I took it to an autoshop and got the thermostat replaced , but they ran tests after the new thermostat was in and it was still overheating ..... I picked up the car a day later and it hasn't overheated once..... so im thinking maybe the mechanic didn't bleed the air in the system after he installed the new thermostat ? thanks ! |
If you are standing with hood up and facing the car from the front.
Lean over the engine, look around back. Heat shield, now stare at it, move about 90 degrees to the passenger side of the car. Behold, the tiny turbo. All models from 2000->2004.5 were 1.9T 5spd auto's, though there are a few on the forum who converted to manual. This only applies to North American S40 imports though. |
