Windshield Wipers Not Working?

Hi Guys,
I have an intermittent problem with my 2005 S40 2.4i that is driving me crazy! Occasionally (every 6-8 weeks) when I get in my car in the morning, the windshield wipers don't work at all. They won't work at all on my 20 minute commute into work, but when I go out to check them after a couple hours, they work again and will for another 6-8 weeks.
I have already replaced the 30-A fuse in the engine bay as well as both relays in the fuse box behind the glove box (dealer didn't know which one controlled the wipers so I just did both).
Any ideas? I found a few threads about wiper problems with aftermarket HID lights, but this car is bone stock. Thank you in advance.

Really? That is interesting. The car has come up with the, "key not recognized" error a couple times in the past, but not in conjunction with the wipers. I hear that ignition switch job is not the most fun to tackle, but hey, if it solves both problems it would make it a little more tolerable. Has anyone else had these symptoms on a 2004.5- S40 and has it been traced to the ignition switch? Thanks guys!

there is no relay. CEM controls windshild wipers motor using LIN bus.
So you need to check the wire (white-green goes to G:3 contact on the CEM module).
this wire should not be shorted to power or ground.
You need to be sure that power is there (17 fuse on the CEM module)
Also the ground should also be present.
