04 s60r many issues...
My 2004 S60R is giving me quite a few problems need answers badly. I keep getting a brake failure light and abs light that switches off all my gauges on my car and the headlight turn signals brake lights etc. stop working when it does this any suggestions? The mechanic overfilled the power steering fluid and the power steering makes a squealing noise when you turn the wheel bad pump or is there a recurring issue with the belts? under hard accel the car studders alot in lower rpms it just started doing this a couple days ago any idea what might be causing this? rattling noise while idling any known parts that have tendancy to come loose? where can i find replacement carpet for this car? Any answers or suggestions to these questions would be greatly appreciated.

Did power steering fluid get onto the belt? If so, that may be causing the squealing. Try to wipe it off as best you can with a rag. You also might try spraying it down with some disk brake cleaner (because it will evaporate and leave no residue), then wiping it off.

Hate to hear you are having problems from a fellow R owner.
What type of power steering fluid did the mechanic use? Volvo uses a synthetic ATF fluid. Many years ago they killed my 940T rack and pinion using regular power steering fluid. Now I now.
Do you have the manual or automatic? Stuttering under hard acceleration could be a weak clutch, transmission or engine problem. I would start with plug condition, throttle body, and air mass sensor. Would not hurt to check fuel pressure either.
No idea with the brake problem. I have my brake fluid changed every two years in an attempt[/b] to avoid this type of problem.
I just took my 04R for its 60k service at 55k. They said the car was in tip top condition.
How many miles are on your 04?

I had a similar scenario: The message in my display read "Brake failure, stop safely" - ABS light came on, eventually the check engine light came on... The odometer stopped progressing and the trip meter went blank (Intermittently, of course). The car still ran fine, though and I kept a close eye on it until I'd put together the $1400 to replace the MAF sensor and the ABS control module the dealer promised would fix the problem. It was between 68 & 69k at that point and I'd also recently gotten it back from the body shop so the MAF could have been due to paint spray.
