Cool 05 2.5T AWD Exhaust

Hey all,

New to the forum. New to the Volvo world. I bought my best friends (or really more of a brother to me beings we've been friends 28 years out of 31 of our years of age) 2005 Volvo S60 2.5T AWD. Now back when we were 19,20,21. We decided it was a great idea to cut the exhaust off our vehicles cause it sounded cool. So everything we ever drove was straight piped. The resonator was left on and it was just straight back to where the muffler is suppose to be and the muffler is gone. Now I just lost my job and My fiancé needed a car so I got her this. Im trying to replace the exhaust so it is quieter. Can I use any year exhaust out of any year or model? Is there really a difference in the pipe between fwd and awd and 2.4 to 2.5 and turbo and no turbo? I see a lot of the years have one that matches all the years and then when you start looking at the differences I don't see any. They all look like the same bend and twist. They all look like they mount the same. Same size etc. I just hate to buy one for $170 dollars for an 05 2.5 when I can get the same pipe with a different part number for $70 from a 03 2.4. Then I need to find a muffler that will either make the car quieter and sound decent or just a stock quiet one. That is not $227 I was thinking just buying a flow master or something with a 2.5' diameter inlet. Just hope it will be quiet but sound ok. Anyone have helpful input?

There is a generational split in 04-05 so those years will be different before and after that. AWD and FWD will be different due to clearance with the drive shaft, even if you don't notice it in the photos. Or you can do like you said and just weld a muffler from the parts store in there. You at least still have the resonator.
