Default 2001 S60 ECM problem?

My mechanic is telling me that I may have a faulty ECM and the car will have to go to the dealer since doesn't have the equipment to communicate with the ECM.

Symptoms:
- ABS/Traction Control lights on
- Check engine lights on
- ABS/Traction Control kicks in unneeded at low speeds
- Sometimes speedometer registers about half the speed I am going, when this happens the car will not shift into higher gear for a bit
- Once the temperature gauge maxed out even though coolant wasn't hot, then went back to normal after a while

I have replaced the ABS Module with one from BBA (didn't cure problem) next I replaced both front speed sensors (didn't work). Everyone blamed the ABS Module, so I called BBA and got a replacement and changed it out again, but nothing changed.

Could I have a bad ECM or bad software? Is the ECM something that I can replace myself if it is the problem?

No you cannot replace it your self.

There has to be a communication problem between the abs and engine modules.

Do you have the ABS codes that are in the system?

This is what the shop has on the ticket:

"Diagnostic code scan found all codes cleared with 1 pending code for PO500= to volvo ECM -510D Veh speed signal faulty, test drove and got failure codes PO500,P15000P0116 +code 032 wheel sensor faulty signal, code 022 wheel sensor faulty signal, code 092 control module communication fault, code 095 control module malfunction permanent fault, code 011 left wheel sensor faulty signal, refer to volvo dealer for possible PCM and or programming issues."

So....... how much is this gonna set me back?

One time I had a 2004 S80 that kept throwing codes like that and it turned out to be a bad ABS pump assembly that was bad and it was wacking out the ABS module.
I wonder if you have the same problem. But it is a communication problem between the 2 modules.

Dealer is telling me it is definitely the ABS controller. I told them I had replaced it twice and it didn't make a difference. The tech says I didn't replace it with a "Volvo" controller. They want 1450.00 to replace it. I guess I'll pick it up and give BBA Reman another call. I find it hard to believe I have received 2 bad controllers.

Anything is possible.
Did they install one to test it?

Did the dealer install one to test? I don't think so, I will ask them tomorrow when I pick it up. I think they only did a diagnostic scan on the car.

Oh ok I wanted to see if they tried to make sure that would fix the problem.
