2001 s60 T5 hard start
Hi, new member here, just bought an 2001 s60 with 57k miles and have been doing my own work to it, getting it ready for inspection. the guy i bought it from warned me it had a hard start but i got a good deal on it so i figured i could get it fixed or fix it myself. I changed the oil and replaced all the coils and spark plugs and it hasn't changed. Seems it takes at least 10 seconds of cranking and some dipping for it to start cold. once it's warm it starts up after about 5 seconds (still not right away). i did lots of googling and seems it could be the fuel pump or the fuel pump drive module. i figure i could replace the module at first myself and then if it doesn't work, tell the mechanic to diagnosis it when i get it inspected in a few weeks.
in the meantime what's frustrating to me is finding where this fuel pump drive module is located on a 2001. it seems volvo moved this thing around depending upon the year (2001-2009). i saw one that was on the side of the gas tank, one in the trunk and another that was on top of the gas tank which would require a ton of work to get the tank down to replace.
anybody know where this is located in a 2001 s60?
also, since it does always end up starting, should i rule out the fuel pump or can that be the problem?
thanks in advance for the help!

Check fuel pressure at the rail, there is a schrader valve you can physically check the pressure to make sure it is nominal. I think idle is 44-55psi depending on trim.
I would investigate the coolant temp sensor right below the upper radiator hose by the thermostat. It is a $8 (or so) sensor that controls fuel amounts on start up based on engine temp. It is a prime suspect for troubled cold starts.

For a hard start -
What is the fuel pressure? What is the residual fuel pressure? (does the pressure leak down overnight?)
Any codes stored?
Do all the temp sensors report the correct temp? (air and water) with live readings on your scan tool?
I've seen poor connections on the early style coolant temp sensors, or erratic coolant sensors cause hard cold starting. Early style is the one on the right of the picture where the thermostat is replaceable. The left style is sold as a complete housing and I've not had to replace the temps sensor in those.
.
cool, glad i can rule out the fuel pump module, going to figure out how to test the fuel pressure and replace that coolant sensor. also I'll plug in my code reader and see if there is anything that comes up with that. what's weird when i go onto rock auto, they sell this for the 2001 s60:

i had a suspicion that I didn't have the pump module, just don't understand why this part comes up for my car

I cant seem to find the fuel pressure sensor on this 2.3 T5, anybody know where it's located? I got an appt on Friday with mechanic but I wanted to switch out sensor first to see if it fixes the issue.
A 2001 DOES NOT HAVE a fuel pressure sensor. If it did it would be on the end of the fuel rail in place of the fuel pressure check point.
