My remote will not open the trunk any longer. Key works fine. Any ideas?

 

You didn't push the trunk lock button on the center console, did you (or maybe the carwash guy did)?

 

also there is a relay in front of the drivers rear tail light that if it goes bad the trunk lock doesn't pop.

 

I lost the nut for one of the thin wires connecting to the positive terminal on my battery and it caused my trunk not to work unless i used the key hole. Also caused the gas gauge to display nothing (empty) sometimes. New nut tightened everything down and problem was fixed.

 

you must press the trunk release button on your remote twice slowly.

 

exact same problem just occurred on my '01 S60 - the garage replaced the fuse in the box inside the trunk, but that was not the problem. There is a "harness" that communicates the signal to open; the wires stretch and then snap over time. Once broken the signal cannot pass and the remote no longer opens the trunk. The harness is also on the left side of the trunk; it passes into the lid near the hinge.
