Default 2002 Volvo S60 - CEL - DIY Diagnosis Question

Hi Guys,

My CEL came on today. I haven't done anything to the car that would warrant it to go on. I did go out for a drive in the aftermath of Irene this morning, I may have driven over some foliage that scraped the undercarriage, but I didn't see anything hanging or amiss under the hood.. I started it a little later and the light was on as soon as I started my car.

I know I can probably go to AutoZone or similar to have them pull the code, but I am more of a DIY kind of guy at this point. I have a Innovate Motorsports OT2 device, which works for my Audi and VW, but it doesn't seem to want to play with the S60. I have read about this incompatibility elsewhere, so I am mostly interested in an alternative tool to get (hopefully with similar data-logging capabilities -- the OT2 tool's logging is kind of terrible)

TL;DR: Tell me what diagnostic tool/data logger to get for my 2002.

This is a great tool just a little pricey Scan Gauge. IPD also has a few other code readers that do less but work for the generic codes.

Regarding this line: 'Reads Engine Management Trouble Codes Please note that only standard OBD II codes for the engine management system are supported. Proprietary Vehicle manufacturer codes / systems such as for the ABS, Climate Control, Transmission,SRS, Suspension, etcarenot supported.Tools to access the manufacturer specific codes start at $3000+.'

What does "not supported" entail, does that mean it can pull the code, tell me the number, but doesn't know what it means? Or does it mean it can't retrieve the code at all from the ECU?

If I clear codes, does it clear the volvo specific codes?

I'll also ask IPD and report back if I hear back first from them.

So IPD reports back with:

Unfortunately the tool does not access information from those other systems.

I found out about aliexpress.com which does seem to have some tools which might be able to access those areas.
