I just bought a set of aftermarket 17s...they have 225/45R17 tires on them but they need new tires. Can i replaces the 225/45s with 215/45s?

 

or could i replace with a 225/55R17? or do i have to stick strictly with 225/45R17

 

The 225/55 will be a little taller of a tire than stock. You can do it but it will be noticeably closer in the wheel wells. The 215/45 are only a fraction smaller than 225. You can do it as well, and the difference will be negligible to the eye. There is a lot more to choose from in the 225/45/17 size.

 

i have a 2001 s60t5 that has stock 17's im running a 235/45/zr/17 and they rub on the inner fender but i changed to to a non zr tire and that fixed it make sure it has the spacer from the factory to keep it off the fender as well
