Default 2003 2.4T Tranny?

In reading all the "discussion" about tranny fluid in the sticky, which tranny does an 03 2.4T have? Aisin Warner? My car's coming up on 40k miles and was wondering if it's time to flush? I've been getting some harsh engagements of the gears when first applying the pedal from a stop or when coasting, not from normal upshifting though.

http://apps.volvocars.us/ownersdocs/...0_12.htm#pg148.

It takes the 3309-type fluid.

See my post and make sure you check the coolant color, if dirty you have the same problem as me. Radiator get a hole and tranny fluid and coolant mix. Symptoms you have is exactly what I noticed first.

What is the fix? New radiator and tranny flush, or is the tranny hosed? Is this type of problem a warranty fix?

1. Yes
2. Not unless it's been going on for a long time, your dealer will tell you different.
3. Yes

Did a drain and fill on my '05 at only 20k miles. The fluid was so loaded with clutch material that it was opaque black with a red tinge around the edges. I will probably do another in about 10k or so. Color does not necessarily mean anything, smell isprobably a better indicator. If the fluid smellslike anything other than tranny fluid, it should definately be changed.
