Default 2004 Volvo S60 - sunroof won't open fully

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and new to Volvo ownership (besides a 740 project I had a few years ago) with a 2004 Volvo S60. I'm starting to work through the various repairs that it needs, one of which has been bugging me recently.

When I try to open the sunroof fully, it gets about halfway before stopping and making a loud clicking noise, like the motor is turning/skipping but not going anywhere. When I test drove the car a week ago it did not have this issue; the sunroof opened fully and smoothly, so I think the motor itself is fine.

Another issue is when closing the sunroof. Holding the button forwards to slide the glass all the way closed goes beyond that, and ends up tilting the glass open. The tilt switch seems to be miscalibrated, and comes to a stop in a slightly elevated position. My theory is that because the glass is jammed halfway when open, the motor has continued to run a bit and now the automatic stop points are in the wrong place.

When I manually slide the shade back, it gets a bit crunchy towards the back. Maybe something has fallen in and is getting in the way?

First of all, what is the procedure for checking why the sunroof is getting stuck halfway? Secondly, is it possible to reset the automatic positions on a P2 S60? I've read online that the later models have a combination of button presses that reset the sunroof, but I haven't been able to find anything for my model. Many thnaks in advance!
