Default 2005 s60 2.4t sunroof not working

My girlfriend just got a 2005 s60 2.4t about a week ago and the sunroof didn't really have a problem other then the thing that you can close to stop the light from come that wouldn't close without a screeching sound so we just leave it open, but now the sunroof won't open. It will go into the tilt position but wont fully open but you can hear the motors struggling. Does anyone know what the problem mighr be?

Lol believe it or not, it has to do with an electrical relay related to the passive alarm system in the car. Specifically the siren module. They share a relay, and the siren modules circuit boards ALWAYS corrode due to faulty design. Replacing the module should restore sunroof function.

I'd bet they are living with the problem since the original post is a couple of months old but -
4 of these little spring thingys support and guide the sunroof headliner as it is moved. They can break and parts can get jammed in the sunroof mechanism. It is true a bad alarm module can cause the sunroof to not work also, due to the damaged alarm circuit causing interference on the CAN network - but if that was the cause the sunroof would not move at all. You can get to the sunroof headliner guides easily after you remove the sunroof glass. 9483170 is the part number.

This reply is spot on...and yes very likely the culprit. Wasn't paying enough attention during reading post to notice sunroof was kinda still working. Dont be surprised if in the future you get an Alarm System Needs Service Code and sunroof stops working at the same time. The siren control module is so poorly designed that it WILL fail eventually.
