2006 S60 Gear Selector Service Required message
Hey guys,
we just had our car detailed and I just started getting an error saying "Gear Selector Service Required". I'm not sure if this even related to the car being detailed or it just may be a coninsidence. Any idea what the error is? would it be related to the car being detailed? How do I fix it? Is there a video for it?
thanks

You probably need to adjust the shift linkage and make sure that it is squarely in each gear. This procedure involves putting the car in neutral and then disconnecting the shift linkage at the transmission and seeing that the selector is relaxed and not pulled one direction or the other.
As an alternative, your gear selector switch on the transmission is failing. It is common and fairly inexpensive to fix. Use a scan tool to see if the computer can read the gears as you pull it through.
