Did the test, alternator not charging, am getting only 12.2 volts wih engine running without the load, and i believe
the voltage regulator is built in with the unit, not a separate one. I found one in you tube but it is for S40, would it be the
same for S60? That is S40 2010 model. Thanks.

Check the link, and found the voltage regulator you referred me to, it is not the same as the regulator i got from my alternator, it is a bosch F00M346097, my alternator is a Bosch which is original equipment for my model. I am confused which one to get, the original one from my alternator or the volvo regulator, although the bosch regulator when i am tryi online says it is not fit for my car model, but then it lasted almost 7 years before it gave up. So my question is, does it matter if i replace it with the same one or go for the volvo unit, Will it fit my alternator alternator though which is a bosch. Will it affect my car electronics if i put the same voltage regulator( F00M346097)

I got a charging failure message fr dashboard, turned out to be a busted voltage regulator, one of the brushed was stucked, other was wobbly. Decided to just replace the regulator instead of the alternator, Right now choosing which one to put, The bosch type which I took from the unit or a volvo part as suggested from this forum. The original alternator is too expensive, and
a lot of people say remanufactured unit is justa replacement of the regulator basically, so I will try this route, if it does not work, then will get a new one. Any advice from people with same problem, am I in the right road? Thanks.for any input you can give.
