2012 S60 wiper high speed inop
Hi all,
Recently, we noticed that the wipers do not work on the high speed setting. All other settings, intermittent, low, med, appear to work normally. Had it at the dealer for unrelated warranty work and asked them to look into it. Service advisor contacted me today and said they had narrowed it down to either the switch on the stalk ($250) or the module ($800). She wanted me to make the decision, and if I chose poorly, I would still be responsible for the repair that wasn't needed. Confirmed my philosophy of avoiding dealers where possible. Anyway, anyone else had this issue? I searched this forum and didn't find anything, but I could have missed it. Any help would be appreciated. Can anyone help me narrow it down further? If it's the switch, is it relatively easy to disassemble and clean contacts? I think I read some posts about someone doing that in an earlier model Volvo, but I think it was for a different problem.
Thanks!

Plan B would be to look for a vid on youtube for replacing a wiper switch in a Volvo (shouldn't be too hard) and then buy a replacement at Tasca Parts for about $90. You can also have an indy tech install to save some bucks. If that doesn't work then you can look into the module or motor etc.
Thanks for the reply mt6127. I picked the vehicle up today and talked with the service manager a bit about what the technician performed in their diagnostic check. They connected a computer and commanded the wipers to go into high mode, and they did. So that tells me the motor, wiring, relays and fuses are all good. He and the technician both felt like it was probably the switch, but apparently they just wanted me to know that it still could possibly be the steering wheel module. I will probably go the route you suggested and look for videos on replacing the switch. Or, since I live in sunny Las Cruces, New Mexico, I have the option of doing nothing, and just deal with it on the two days a year we actually get rain.... If I end up replacing it, I'll try to remember to come back on here and post about my experience.
