2013 S60 - Battery - need recommendations
My S60 is at 35,000 miles, but after 6 years, the battery seems to have died. I can't charge it with a trickle charger, but it starts with a jump starter.
This S60 has premium audio, navigation and voice control. I can't find anything in the owners manual which indicates what is a good replacement warranty. On the top, it says "Volvo, Flooded & Sealed, 80AH, 700A, EN 30659795, V022A, Made in Germany". From what I searched on the internet, it appears to take the BCI Group 92/T7 battery. The more widely available BCI Group 48/H6 battery works for the standard S60 with none of the parasitic drains.
Has any one used a Group 48 battery to replace a Group 92 battery? What has your experience been like? I'm wondering if it is worth spending the money on the 92, and instead use it for an AGM battery.
I've narrowed it down to these four:
The Bosch Premium Power Group 92 at Pep Boys for $160. [Direct Link]
The Duralast Gold Battery Group 92 at Autozone for $160 [Direct Link]
The Duracell Ultra Battery Group 92 at Batteries+for $167 [Direct Link]
The Interstate MT-72 T7 Group 92 at Interstate (unknown price) [Direct Link]
I couldn't find any really good reviews on them, but hear all of these are good brands. Can anyone offer recommendations, or share experiences with other batteries?
To further confuse, the Bosch Auto website recommends a Group 91 battery (model# S4569B [Direct Link])
Costco and NTB does not carry 92/T7, only48/H6.
I called up two dealers, they quoted around $400 for the OEM battery. That seemed exorbitant. They didn't have any non-OEM battery that they'd install. I'm reasonably handy and can do this myself, I do not need an installer.
On a side note, has anyone found a Group 92 AGM battery?
I'm in Illinois, north of Chicago. We use this for just local commutes, just do around 5000 to 6000 miles a year.
Thanks, Zolt.
