Default Battery replacement for 91 940 turbo

Heard rumors of being able to use the 24f battery. Is this true?

Anyone have suggestions for battery replacement? hopefully a good battery for a good deal that doesn't fry the alt/starter/etc.

any 12v battery that fits will work. the alternator and control of the voltage regulator and what controls the amount of curruent in the system. a bigger battery would give you a longer charge without the car running,

there;s only a couple batteries that properly fit and clamp down with the standard volvo battery clamp flange at the bottom. the proper battery has a vent tube so battery gasses don't corrode the battery compartment. absolutely critical is that + and - are on the correct sides. I believe Group 47 is the standard size.

btw, little known fact... modern sealed 'maintenance free' batteries have antimony instead of calcium in their plates and prefer a somewhat higher charging voltage. our older volvos are happier with regular vented batteries as their alternators are more like 13.6V and not the 13.9V or 14.2V that the lead-antimony sealed batteries like.

Got the battery changed, looks like the old battery acid had eaten away some of the battery plate. Ugh.

Anyway, changed the battery, and went to start car. Cranks fine, doesn't fire up. only tried for 3-5 seconds. Don't want to use up the battery in one fail swoop.

Where to start looking? It isn't something with the new battery is it?

Yikes. Went outside today and the car started right up. Like there was no problem. Hope this doesn't start the fun no start guessing game.
