2013 S60 CEL gnarly whooshing sound
T5 with 57K gentle miles just started making a high-pitched whining sound. CEL just came on. YouTube video said torn PVC diaphram. EBay sellers are calling it a box oil separator. Round gasket/spring/cap.
This morning I started it up to see if removing the oil fill cap or dipstick would affect noise but the noise was gone. CEL remained. Pulled P0171 code from OBDII.
Ordered cap/spring/diaphram on eBay. Anyone replace these parts without removing air box??? Thanks.

Update. Parts arrived. Cap was easier to remove by using a hair dryer to heat up the plastic cap. After market cap did not quite fit so I took the new membrane (old one had nasty rips) and put it in the factory cap and press-fit it on.
Noise gone. Cleared code. We shall see if it works.
