Default 2015 S60 Starting Problems after replacing batter

Frustrated. I had a bad battery . . . low battery warning, but had enough to start it up. Replaced battery and now it just does the "click" as you keep the start button pressed. It just slowly cycles through the "clicks". It was at least working when I had the weak batter, now it does not work at all. Any ideas . . . I'm running out of ideas. Thank you.

I did bypass the fuse power cable, using my jumper cables between the starter and the battery. It starts every time. I looked at the fuse . . . it did not look broken, but maybe it is. Either way, power is not getting to the starter via the power cable. So, I'll replace the fuse cable and see if that solves it.

Bill

things to do - clean/retighten cables at battery posts. Measure battery voltage. a fully charged battery should be in the 12.6 to 12.8 range. anything less - put some charge in it. It is quite possible the new battery is faulty or was not correctly prepped by the store. Note on some models there are fuses in the power cable so as you noted, that may be at fault but not sure why/how that would have failed.

Have you checked the starter solenoid? That could be acting up and I think that would explain how your bypass has been working. Also, not sure if you already covered the starter relay.

Thank you all for your comments and possible solutions. So, I got down to the starter and pulled the cap off the bolt . . . and behold, a loose nut connecting the power cable. I tightened that up and my day of frustration was over. All systems were a go after that and all is working nicely.

I am a bit embarrassed that I did not do it earlier in my day, but it's just another learning for me. I'm not a mechanic, but I like to fix things on my own and learn (and not taking it to a shop if I can help it).

Much appreciation to you guys and this forum.

Bill

Excellent news! I'm a bit surprised that nut was loose to begin with but glad to hear that was the culprit.
