Hi Everyone, we have a new teardrop camper coming and I'm working on the hitch and 7-pin connector wiring for our 2017 V60. The camper has electric brakes so we need lights and a 30A or more circuit. I really appreciate finding several other posts which confirmed the cargo area fuse box is good to pick up 15A and 40A circuits. I plan to use the T-One 4-pin wiring kit specific to the V60 which makes tapping into the lights straightforward. I found the connectors for the discontinued Volvo OEM trailer wiring adapter. I'd like to find a mating connector for the power connector so I don't need to re-terminate the connector. Does anyone know who makes the connectors in the attached pictures? FYI, I was able to go to the Volvo service department and they gave me several plug in crimp connectors to tap into the 15 amp circuit in the fuse box. Any help is appreciated!!
I just installed a trailer module in my 2018 V60 and from your photo they look exactly like the ones I connected to that. Then from the module you run the wiring harness to the 4/7 connector. Parts: Module # 31407107 Harness # 31346065 Curt hitch from Amazon ( part# 13266 ) Curt connector bracket # 58000 i am pretty sure it's the same for 2017 and 18... so I'll just go ahead and share: The hitch installs more or less according to a video on e-trailer.com and the rest is also easy, BUT the next part is where I am stuck now: The car's computer software needs to be updated with specific Volvo software via VIDA computer. Since my fancy Los Angeles Volvo dealer quoted me ~$600 for this ( the software I believe is like $20-30 !!!) I took the car to a local independent Volvo shop. They uploaded the software, checked the connector for all light functions and I thought I'd be good to go... BUT at home when trying to hook up the new wireless bluetooth CURT Echo brake controller and some lengthy wait time on Curts service line, I came to understand that one of the 7 PINS in my connector does NOT have any power as it should. So back to the shop: we spent more or less 3 hrs to doublecheck everything: module, harness, software... all good - except: there's no power from the module to the harness. The only solution at this point was suggested by the unhappy shop owner: run a bypass connection with in line fuse to the harnesses no-power cable and be done with it...
Makes sense, but I can't quite believe Volvo has intentionally blocked the module from providing power to the connector? So far it has been impossible to find any official info on this: it seems like I am the only one who needs a brake controller ( for a very small lightweight popuptrailer ) None of the 5 local VOLVO dealers has installed this setup for a client to use with a brake controller...
If anyone on here has had any luck with this module/harness/tow and connecting a brake controller, please let me know!
For all the folks who just need to pull a small brakeless trailer: I can confirm it would all work just fine: brake lights, turning signals... and the car recognizes ( and reports in the dash ) the attachment of a trailer. And i assume it also does all the management of controlling the adjusting the AWD and braking of the car. And the 2" hitch is great for any bigger bike rack or else attachment.

Typical Volvo scam and the reason that my current Volvo is almost certainly my last one. (I was quoted $200 to reset the low battery indicator if the dealer installed a new one - my response? " No thanks")

What local shop did you use? I had a c70 from 2000-2005 but just jumped back into the Volvo world and learning where the resources are...

Even though in the end it did not work out, they did install the software and went out of their way to doublecheck everything - so I felt ok and will definitely take the car here in the future and not the Volvo dealers...
just to be clear: the software works - it's just that it does not provide power to the 7way connector. But so far I do not even know wether there should be power on that PIN as designed/programmed or blocked by Volvo's software? Nobody at Volvo would verify this. No dealer and neither their American customer service center. Little fun fact here: right now they have a campaign message in their emails: Tow for life.
Go figure...

Are you sure that the 40A fuse has been installed?
