In May 2020 bought new 2020 S60. The build date on car sticker is July 2019. I have less than 1,000 miles on care. Anyway, this month I have started getting message that maintenance is due. I thought it was coming on since it is now 1 year since build date. I called dealer service department and they said they don't go by time anymore and they now go strictly by miles, every 10,000 miles.
The maintenance manual doesn't say anything about service once a year, just talks about service at 10,000 mi., 20,000 mi., Etc.I
Can someone confirm that for 2020 s60 there is no maintenance requirement based on time, it is just based on mileage every 10,000 miles? Obviously. I don't want to have a problem at 5,000 miles and have them come back and say I violated the warranty by going over a year (since build date) without service

This is the warranty manual that shows the maintenance intervals. Historically when you have a car driven low mileage you'd want to consider maintenance on a calendar basis to keep fluids fresh as moisture/condensation will find its way into brake fluid, motor oil etc so that's why many mechanics recommend seasonal oil changes even if the mileage doesn't come up to spec. Have you talked to your dealer about their recommendations for a car with low annual mileage? Or is your issue what to do about the reminder message? Personally I've always have done an early oil change on a new car just in case there's any residues from manufacturing. Other than that I'd say you'd be fine just going by the book or what the dealer recommends for a low miler.

I usually drive about 8,000 miles a year and will probably shorten the 10,000 maintenance schedule to every 7,500 miles even though their device department but said to just go by the 10,000 miles interval. Since the oil has already been sitting in there a year I might do the first maintenance at 5,000 miles. Sound resonable???
Thanks for the reply.
