Default Service Interval, S60 D3

Hi

I am considering getting a 2011 S60 D3 Excel. I put on quite a bit of miles, and I am worried about the fact that in South Africa, the recommended service interval is 10,000km (around 6,200 miles).

80% of my travel is just long distance on the highway. I am planning to only take it in every 20,000kms and then just get someone to do an oil change for me every 10,000kms, as the Volvo garage is expensive, and not near my place of work.

Does anybody have any advice in this regard? Is it a bad idea?

Seems reasonable to me. I do all my own maintenance work and it's been at least 65,000 km since it has seen the dealer. No issues.
