Looking to replace tranny fluid in my 6 spd. Call local Volvo dealer and they have none. They haven't worked many manual trans and haven't seen a R model in some time. Any place to get fluid or find another dealer, if one exists in VT. Local is over 1 hour drive. Local auto parts just points to dealer

I just replaced all my fluids with Amsoil except for the Haldex unit which truly requires special formulated "mineral oil". Volvo has a deal with Catrol who is the 1st tier supplier of all their fluids.
I used Amsoil's severe manual transmission fluid (rated at GL-4 per factory recommendation). Any good synthetic GL-4 / GL-5 manual transmission fluid will work perfectly fine. 75W-90 is the industry standard.
Volvo is trying to scam owner's with BS about special Euro formula, etc, etc. Gears are gears in the manual transmission, differentials, bevel gear, etc. I believe Amsoil puts out a superior product but you can easily find Amsoil, Royal Purple, Redline, Castrol, Mobil 1 (my last choice) equivalents which are as good (if not, better) for cheaper.
The only thing I wouldn't buy aftermarket is for the Haldex unit.
