Ac problem while im am parked
Hey guys i got an volvo s60 2012, i just recharged the refrigerant but my ac is still not working ok, so while am driving or if i am parked and rev the car ...cold air starts to come out if am not doing nothing the air becomes less cold, my mechanic told me it could be the condenser, my engine temperatures is ok but before i buy a new condenser i wanna make sure if that's the problem, any of you got this sort of problem?
First thing I would recommend would be to not run your AC. It is possible to over charge a system and do damage without realizing it. You could have a condenser problem yes but since this is a closed system and the coolant that is in it is not the best stuff in the world to be exposed to I would take the car to a shop that can evacuate the coolant and safely recharge the system with coolant that contains a dye. If the system is cold after the recharge I would run it a few days and bring it back to be checked for leaks. That would be my step one before buying parts. If the problem persists after a recharge then the mechanic will be able to discharge the system again. From there you can either start swapping parts yourself or let them go at it. Once discharged there isn't much to an AC system. Some hoses, a condensor, compressor, dryer, evaporator and an expansion valve but if you're unfamiliar with the system I would stay away. Doing something wrong or missing a step when replacing parts can cost a whole lot more money than paying someone who works on them every day to diagnose and fix the issue. Ask someone who burned up a new compressor because he skipped replacing the dryer....
