So I have a 2007 Volvo S60 t5 and took my car to a mechanic to get the timing belt changed as preventative maintenance. Well the mechanic screwed my car all up and decided to switch out my main engine wiring harness for a non turbo wiring harness now my car won’t start stuck in Immobilizer. I know it’s because of the wiring harness being different just wanted to know what the difference between turbo and non turbo wiring harness is and if it’s better to get a new one installed again. Please help I’m at my wits end just bought the car and this mechanic screwed my car all up. Just want to know what the best solution is.

time to get a new mechanic and consider legal action. Not sure what the wiring harness would have to do with the timing belt unless he damaged it accidentally and is refusing to set it right. Which wiring harness did he decide to replace? The only way to know if the parts are interchangeable is to see the volvo part number for that harness and compare the turbo and non-turbo model's number. The immobilizer may have also been set off by disconnecting the battery - did he try locking/unlocking the doors 5x with the key fob to reset it?

Yeah I got it towed out of there and now deciding either to take it to another local mechanic or a Volvo dealership. I’m not sure what harness he took out I know it was for another s60 but don’t think it was a turbo. Just wanted to know if that was the problem can I fix just a few things on it or do I have to replace the whole harness again. And as far as I know it’s the whole harness for the engine and goes to everything and I realize it could just be the disconnection of the battery. So if I take it somewhere that has the visa dice scam tool for Volvo’s will it tell me what I need to get fix even if is the wiring harness and is it gonna cost me a small fortune cause it’s an 2007 and I don’t have that much extra money at the moment
