Default another humming noise

hi,
i searched and read all i could find about it here and i think my issue should be somewhere in between wheel bearings, steering rack and the like.
but i still want to give a description of what it sounds like, maybe someone experienced it too.
lately i have that humming noise at speeds above 30 mph, i think it is coming from the right side, probably the front. it is not the usual tire/road noise, because i travel mostly on the same roads and i know what the tires sound like on different surfaces by now ( my wife says i am obsessed with noises in and around the car ) - this one is additional to the tires noises, it is a constant hum, which changes with speed, but is not affected by braking, like some members here experienced.
yesterday i was driving on a different route and it included a stretch of road that was almost like a little roller coaster, going up and down a few times (like big and soft speed bumps) and whenever i "went down" and it felt like i was lifting off for a moment the noise went away.
hmm, i hope that description makes sense ...
any ideas what that could be then, since there are certain suspect out there already?
thanks
fritz

I would check the wheel bearings, and make sure that the rest of the suspension/steering components are nice and tight. Good luck.

Almost positive it is a bad wheel bearing.

try the old trick of swapping wheels around first see if the noise stops the s60 tend to feather the edge of the tyres on the rear especially the pirreli tyres its usually a bad bush on the rear arms that cause this. its worth swapping the front for the rear as ive heard so many stories of people getting wheel bearings changed only to find out it was the tyre roar and changing them over completly stoped the noise. obviously if the noise is the same its a wheel bearing but its worth a go it worked on my s60

Couldnt you use the wheel bearing test? Go on an open road with no traffic, do about 20-30MPH and start weaving like your going through a salom course, if the sound goes away on a left turn its the right wheel bearing? and on a right turn its the left wheel bearing?

Dont remember it all, Tech probaly can fix whats incorrect.

Yes thats a good way to test.
Thats why I said wheel bearing because by the he described it when he went around a corner some it went away.

i was at the dealer yesterday, a technician went out with me on a drive and said that it is the front right wheel bearing. then he took the wheel and after a few "slalom tests" said that the left one is not as bad as the right one, but it'll be next.
he said that it would be covered under the cpo warranty, but it would be wise to just do the right one now and the left one some other time, because if they wanted to do both at once a volvo-rep would need to take a look at it and approve it first - and that might take a few days.
so i just had one done and will get the other one done when i am in that area again in a few weeks.
everything sounds fine now again, but - i quote my wife again - "being obsessed with noises in the car" i think i hear the left one a little bit now...

thanks for all your answers.

I have a 03 V70 FWD, it will hum when i accelerate and and going above 30 mph then go away when I let off the gas, when I jerk the wheel side to side it still hums and does not change pitch, could it be a rear wheel bearing or something else?
