Default Any way to improve night time instrument cluster visibility?

I suppose this may just be an inherent design issue. But I find my speedo and tach a bit hard to read at night. The tiny little red needle gets a bit lost and the numbers on both gauges don't really stand out. I don't know why Volvo did it this way vs. back lighting the numbers so they stand out against a black background.

Anyone ever come up with a workaround? Perhaps it's better in later years?

I have an '11 S60 T6 AWD, the first year of the 2nd gen S60.

Have you tried adjusting the Thumb Wheel for adjusting display and
instrument lighting?

Yeah, doesn't help. Seems to be a common complaint of the '11. There's even a company that will help you upgrade '13 onward to the newer TFT display.

I'll live with it.

My 2010 XC60 has THE worst cluster. You can't see it in any light setting. And there's no digital version except if you want to know how many kilometers per hour you're driving.
