Default Battery dead - after blow fan off the table

p { margin-bottom: 0.08in; } Well the fan is off the table as a problem.

Today the car wouldn't start - not enough battery voltage. Temperature outside is 55 degrees outside.

I've been monitoring the battery -

7/14 evening 12.45
7/15 morning 12.37
7/15 evening 12.52
7/16 morning 12.34
7/16 evening 12.51
7/17 morning 12.26

Car wouldn't start and tested battery and got 10.45.

The ground strap is suspected. I haven't removed it but it felt wobbly like it piece of metal that you bend back and forth until it breaks. I wiggled the ground strap and tried to start the car, it slowly cranked but did start. Before I was just getting the click, click, click.

I'm going to take the car to have the battery stress tested. If it passes I am going to pull off the ground strap and check the ohms on it.

So the suspected after blow fan running the battery down is off the table.

Now on the table is

Dying battery
The starter
A bad wire at the battery. The ground strap is on my radar.

I just started the car and ran it for @ 2 minutes. I checked the battery and it showed charging at 14. I stopped the car and the battery is at 12.59.

I'm leaving the door and trunk open to see if it quickly runs the battery down. If it doesn't run it down, off for the stress test.

My wife doesn't do well with this stuff and is not at all pleased. Just as my Jaguar was my baby the S60 is her baby and she doesn't like when it is sick.

Sounds like a bad battery. If the cable isn't corroded, I very much doubt it is the issue.

Cables look pristine. I removed the ground cable from battery and body, looked at it and it seems fine. Just for fun I called the dealer to find a price the parts guy said .... this can't be a correct price. He looked again and said it seems to be the correct price. Now I can't remember but it was either $65 or $85.

I'll start with a new battery. The sticker on the battery is 3/11 and it is a Walmart battery installed by the previous owner. So taking Vegas odds I would say it is the 4 year old Walmart battery.

I've never had to replace a cable on a P2, but I wouldn't doubt that price. After a new battery, check for parasitic drain. You should have under 20 milliamps.

My fear is parasitic drain because that can be a PITA to find.

The only electric thing I've been near on this car is getting the DIM repaired last month. Installed it, got the SRS cleared and everything has been fine. Fine until last Sunday when my wife got stuck with a no start car at the shopping center.

Now the question is the size? Is OEM group 48 or 49???

No idea. I never have to shop for aftermarket batteries, I work at a dealer.

From your informative posts I pretty much guessed you worked at a dealer.

Visiting the battery department it didn't take long to know that it was not a #49 because that puppy was big. A #48 is the one.

I've got the battery on the charger and will install after a full charge.

Yesterday I removed the ground strap from the body, it was clean without any corrosion. Applied some dielectric grease to it and reinstalled.

Bought a new battery. Can't remember the exact number but the cold cranking amps are around 725 and the reserve was decent. It is a Diehard battery with a 3 year replacement warranty.

Opened the cable heads a bit more than they were before the install, applied some dielectric to the posts, installed the heads.

I've ran the car around, I've done multiple engine starts while just sitting in the driveway, let the car sit without driving and everything seems fine.

I guess it was just a dying battery.
