Hey Guys. ? I have a S60 and S80 both from 2016. I just wonder the battery only live 2 years +- 2 month. Change 2 times already on both.
I wonder why so expensive battery only last 2 years when drives less then 10000 Km a year. Never have aother cars when battery like that. Live in Thailand and use AC. Should I change to a not original battery ? How long does your battery live.

There are many factors involved when it comes to batter life and contrary to what one would think, living in a region where it is very hot will actually shorten a battery's life as opposed to a region where its cold. Having said that and living in the northeast of US our S60 battery only lasts on average of 2-3 years. I think that with these cars there is a large and constant demand on power resources. I've noticed that even with a new battery if the radio is left on for 30 seconds after shutting down the engine the low-battery indicator comes on. Does not happen with any of our other vehicles.

This seems to be a common complaint. The battery on my 2015 V60 was replaced under warranty and is now showing signs of decline. I'm guessing that the charging system on these cars is marginal (and a battery constantly being draw low will age faster) Why? - alternator cost doesn't vary much with size but alternator capacity does affect engine load which, in turn, affects fuel mileage. These days, anything that affects fuel mileage is fair game no matter the impact on function.
