Question Brake light sensor - help for an enthusiastic newbie please

Hi - I've got a 2014 V60 D2 and my brake light sensor seems to be faulty (the brake lights are staying on when the car is locked and engine off. I can get the brake lights to turn off by lifting the brake pedal upwards). I have a replacement sensor and I'm trying to remove the old one. From videos online it seems I should just be able to twist it clockwise from around the 9 o'clock to the 11 o'clock position (e.g. like this guy does on his Rover at around 4min10s:
) but I can't get it to budge (in either direction). I appreciate a Volvo is not a Rover (his was the only video which gave detailed instructions). Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'm hoping there's some trick to it? I've resisted forcing it at this stage! Thanks very much, Phil
Heres the faulty (I think) sensor in place
