Default No brake lights on 945

I have no break lights on my '94 945. I'm told it's probably a faulty Brake Failure Sensor.
I see the sensor is the big red item in back of the other relays.

Any experience with this problem? Does replacing the sensor fix it or could it be something else?

Is it me, or does it seem illogical that when the sensor fails I have no break lights and no warning light...shouldn't the brake lights keep working even if the sensor fails?

Thanks for any help/advice

Brake Failure Sensor.
This is a new one on me. There is a bulb failure sensor mounted in the central electric unit which would put on a warning light if one of your brake light bulbs had blown. It also covers other lights.

Have you checked fuse #4? It covers the brake lights.

The sensor controls the brake lights.

Yes, I checked the fuses. So something else knocked out all three brake lights.
