Default Brake Pads on a 2002 S60

I have a 2002 S60 nearing 80K miles. I bought it used with 34K miles and I due for new brake pads, they work fine but now have 40K plus miles on them.

I have replaced brake pads on many vehicles in the past, Hondas, Mazdas and VWs.

Is it fairly straightforward on the S60 ? Front and rear or are there any weird things to be aware of ?

Also any particuylar type or pads that people recommend ?

Thanks,

Mark.

I have someone change mine. In terms of type to use, the Volvo pads, although the dustiest pads I have ever seen do a great job of stopping the car. I would just go back with them.

Be sure to have a 7mm hex to remove the caliper bolts.

Another alternative to OE pads are Mintex. They are less dusty. Akebono is another popular pad. I haven't tried either one, yet. I did pads and rotors a couple days ago with stuff I got from fleabay. Not the greatest, but they are quiet and were dirt cheap. I think I paid $80 for pads and rotors but I can't remember.

Currently have the Mintex installed with no problem. ATE supplies the OEM Volvo pads so they are a good replacement pad also.

Pretty simple job. I use Akebono pads.

I manage an import repair shop that specializes in Volvo,

Akebono ceramic pads with Brembo or Zimmerman rotors will be outstanding for the S60. It is worth the couple of bucks for the Akebono`s, I have seen other aftermarket pads not fit as good and make noise.
