Default Buying a 2005 S60 with engine problems

So I'm looking into buying a 2005 Volvo S60 in really good shape except that the seller told me engine bearings are going out and needs bottom engine end rebuilt. We are talking about 2,000 for the car which is really good for a 2005. He said a dealership quoted him 1,500 in repairs which I think it might be a little more. I debating in buying the car. Any thoughts?

P.S. This would be my first Volvo

How many miles is on the car? What else needs to be done to the car?

If you need a drivable car i wouldn't start with one with a major engine problem.

It has 138k miles on it. That's all he mentioned, was the bottom end of the engine rebuilt. I have a truck I'm driving, so I don't need a driveable car right away. I'm just wondering if it's worth it
