Default "Complimentary Service" Not Complimentary

First post here, but more to come I'm sure.
I just picked up an 09 Volvo S60 and I'm loving it. It's a nice change from my 2001 XC, which I still have. Anyways I was led to believe that the '09 Volvos came with "Complimentary Volvo Factory Scheduled Maintenance" for 3 years at 7,500, 15,000, 22,500 and 30,000 mileage intervals. This morning I took my car to the a Volvo dealer and first I was told that my car didn't qualify because the original owner "didn't pay for it."
( This led to a conversation about the word "complimentary". )
Then he said "maybe the original owner didn't transfer it." Prior to that over the phone I got a different story about original ownership beginning in the middle of '09 and that mine missed the deadline for free maintenance.
Anybody here know why my particular car would be turned down?

Thanks

BULL **** - Complimentary service is mated to the VIN - this is not warranty service which would need to be transfered- they are double dipping. Take it to a different dealer.

I contacted Volvo and got my answer in less than an hour.
My car was originally was listed as a "Fleet vehicle" for it's initial ownership and therefore not eligible for the free service. Still, I got a great deal on a car that looks and runs like new with only 14K and over 3 years of factory warranty left. I'll just have to do my own oil changes...no big deal. I still would have purchased it either way.

Thanks.
