Default Door lock goofiness

Hello,

So when I do the following in order, some wierdness occurs:

1. Unlock the vehicle with keyfob (2 presses)
2. Open rear driver's door, keep open for 30 seconds
3. Close driver's door
[sound occurs, like a motor is sliding something]
4. Lock the vehicle
[lights flash, all other doors lock. Rear driver's door does not lock - pushbutton on the top of the door for the lock does not move at all. Opening the door sets off the alarm.]

It's wierd because if I *don't* open the door, the lock functions normally. If I open and shut the door quickly (open for under 10 sec.), the lock functions normally, and no sliding sound is heard.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Sounds like the door lock assembly is bad.

But the problem isn't intermittent, per se, it's fully demonstrable. Wouldn't a fault in the door lock ***'y be either intermittent, or total falure?

I have seen them do very Wacky things from what you are saying to when you lock the car the door will lock and then pop back up. I have also seen them not work at all.

When the "malfunction" happens it does NOT go down and pop up, it doesn't move at ALL. But, if I don't open the door, or open it quickly, or open it for a long time, it doesn't do this.

I think it is shorting out inside.

The door locks on these cars isn't supposed to get grease or anykind of spray lube. Most of the time oil change places and the Dealers will still spray stuff in there.
