erratic starting problems
My 2004 S60 AWD 2.5T has been frustrating me because, at random times, it just decides not to start. It left me stranded last winter in an empty Milwaukee parking ramp at 2 a.m. with the temperature at 10 below. When the tow truck arrived two hours later ... it started. More recently, it decides not to start and won't start for four, five days. But then it starts.
Several times, I've had it towed to my mechanic after it doesn't start but then it starts for him. It's maddening.
The battery is fine, so is the starter. When it doesn't start, all the lights come on in the dash so it gets juice, but nothing else happens. I don't hear the click, click, click of a bad starter. All I get is silence.
I've read some previous posts that have suggested it's a design flaw on the live wire connector to the starter motor. Others have suggested a bad key. But while several Volvo owners have complained about similar dilemmas, I haven't read anything that suggests if they are sure-fire fixes.
Thanks in advance if you do have a fix or if you have any suggestions. I love the car but it's frustrating the hell out of me right now.

I have had the same random no-start conditions as well. It had me stumped. Finally, after three days I decided I was fed up and started poking around. It wasn't the battery or the starter or the ignition or key. Here's what worked for me (that time and every time since). Wiggle the thin wire on the starter. It honestly has worked for me every single time. But I feel your frustration, believe me.
