Unfortunately boost controller don't work so well on the ME7 cars. Manipulating the boost alone in the car without properly adjusting the fuel the will make it run too lean and that has devastating effects with the R's. We have too thin of cylinder walls to afford to run lean. There has been many cases of cracked cylinder walls because of the car running too lean from bad tunes, failed TCV's and the like.

I wish it were that simple. I was running an MBC on my 850R and it worked pretty good with the M4.3 before the I upgraded the turbo and got a custom M4.4 tune.

quite a shame really. im going to go get an exhaust in the next few days.

3.25in downpipe onto a 3.0inch strate piped. im going to have the 2nd o2 sensor tied off so it thinks the air is clean. the reason for the .25 bigger on downpipe is so when they bend the pipe its not always as big as they try to bend. its all going to be strate piped maybe a muffler if its to loud.

It sure is, but better to do it right then to destroy your engine.

You'll want a muffler. One of the guys in Seattle ran a straight pipe from the turbo and it was silly loud!

They can't get the plug out??? And is that the only reason they say it needs a new engine?? Seems to me that the shop is responsible to me...

I'd be calling BS on that in a hurry!!!

They say they cant get it out because the part that the tool pops off, has broken off. the top part of the spark plug is snapped. they say the person whom owned it before me never used the spark plug grease stuff.

That's still not your fault and I'd be on the shop to fix it or make it right.
There's got to be a way to get the plug out. If anything they can remove the head and tap the broken plug. It's a little more work then a headgasket but it'll be cheaper then a new engine.

that grease is nice if you put your plugs in and run them for 100k miles without ever checking them
other than that it won't cause the plug to break in a way that it cannot be removed. the guy was a tard and probably tightened it instead of loosening. even then, the worst case is to drill and tap the head you wouldn't need a new engine. call bull on that and then never go there again.

back to tuning topic, how can your car as 19psi only make 250whp with those also bolt ons? isnt the car stock at 300 crank with about 20% drivetrain loss makes it 240whp stock? how can ur exhaust intake fmic and 5 extra psi of boost only give 10whp?

I think you missed this part that's in the bold...
And the runs were on a mustang AWD dyno that's known for being a bit on the stingy side. I also didn't have the FMIC at the time...

Yep. It's the same in my 850R too. From what I understand, Volvo tones down the TQ for smoother driving.

Not to dig up old threads like the undertaker, but I feel the same way as this guy because of previously owning 5 DSMs myself and modding them. My Galant VR4 in complete stock form put down 189awhp I cranked the boost, slapped a k&n on, and with an exhaust cutout put down 235awhp for $54 in mods.

I'm learning quickly a catback and intake are the only mods that won't hurt my wallet. I think my s60 has to be my daily and maybe need a cheap dsm on the side to suffice my power to $ ratio.
