A few questions for 2.4t
I have been browsing the forums for a few months here, and tonight decided to make an account to ask my questions. I bought a 2001 Volvo S60 2.4t with 184k on it for a good price a month ago (mostly highway, guy before me put over 115k in 4 years, had a windshield chip and misfire on cylinder 5). Now, I already fixed the misfire with a new coil pack, but there was still a loss of power near the 3000-4000 rpm range. I changed the fuel filter tonight, but it did not fix the problem completely (maybe it is in my head thinking it got better).
There is still a loss of power near the 3-4000 rpm range. It pulsates when you really step on it, getting to the 3-4k rpm range and the power of the engine doesn't really accelerate the the car, then it finally catches and bursts forward. When I go through the gears manually (L, 3, 4, D), it allows me to get past that weak 3-4k range and then the car accelerates as it should in the 5-6k range. I am curious if anyone here has any similar symptoms and what the solution was.
The second question I have-- in my manual it says while the drivers door is locked, the gas tank door should be locked as well... mine does not lock. Is this an easy fix or should I just not worry about it?
Thanks for taking the time to read this, I appreciate all the help and advice you guys give to each other.

What all have you done about your hesitation? I would start with the plugs. Make sure they are gaped correctly, maybe even replace them.
As for the gas door, mine has a pin that comes out of the frame and pokes through a hole on the filler door. I have seen several of the hole tabs bent on 850's, on S70's the latch closes the door so I'm not sure how the S60 door works.

You'll have to wait for someone else to help with the hesitation issue. If you're not getting a cel, I'm not sure what it could be unless you have another coil pack going bad. You can also search through the S70/V70 section, cars newer than '98 have coil packs as well. There are also a few other sites like Matthew's Volvo site, www.SwedeSpeed.com, www.VolvoSpeed.com, etc. Maybe they could help. Some of them are more tuned towards preformance issues.

Im guessing it could be boost related. Look into the Turbo control valve (TCV) and all vacuum lines around the air box \ TCV.
Do you have a boost gauge installed to monitor boost levels?
Is it the original trans? and has the trans fluid been changed? If you dont know, I would start with a drain \ refill on the tranny (instead of a full flush).

as far as the gas door, mine flaps around and does not lock as well. Mine has a broken prong or piece though, I need to replace a part. From what I have read, the gas door locking design probably looked good on paper, but sucks ***** in real life. I read someone suggesting VELCRO to fix it .

As for the fuel door situation, I took apart the unit that locks and unlocks the fuel door, and found out that the motor only spins in one direction, only unlocking the fuel door and not locking it. I am guessing that the motor is bad and cannot find a replacement part anywhere. Not a big deal.
