Default Fuel octane recommendations

Hello
I live in Toronto and I gas up at Petro. I just picked up a 2013 s60 T5 2.5L with 60k miles (not km) and I'm wondering if the turbo would benefit from going from 91 (premiun) to 94 (ultra premium). Would this increase performance?

Newbie to Volvo so all thoughts are welcome. A lot of conflicting information on the net so I decided to come here and learn from the experts.

It wont increase performance, but it will help predetonation ( gas combusting early from high compression rather than on time through spark). If your car calls for 91 in the owners manual, id say stick with it, its cheaper.

I think you are correct. I am picking it up from the dealer and it'll only have about 1/3 of a tank left in it. They say the previous owner used 89, midgrade, so I will put 30 bucks worth of 94 in it, and from then on stick with 91. Thank you.
