Default good front mount intercooler for s60r?

I herd the stock twin intercoolers are horable and even the cheapest FRONT mount intercooler is a massive gain, is this true?

You heard from me so I'll say it again, a proper FMIC is hands down better then the OEM twin IC's as they do not succumb to the heat soak that the OEM IC's are very prone to. Excess heat is what will drop your HP numbers. I've posted my intake temp numbers in your other threads so there is the proof from me. By all means back up what I'm telling you but there might also be only about 2 or 3 other R owners on this forum so you won't get much help other then what I've given in your other threads. There are dozens of threads debating the gains of a FMIC.

You really need to join up at Swedespeed. The link below is dedicated to ONLY the P2R's and it gets more traffic then any other P2R Forum out there, and hundreds of very knowledgeable members that will help you with any issues you have with your P2R.

The three that are on the market right now are from Viva, Phuzzy Motorsports, and GSX.

Front Mount Intercooler Upgrade, S60R/V70R - ViVA Performance
PhMIC - Autos - Volvo - S60R-V70R - Performance - PhMIC - Phuzzy Motorsports
GSX FMIC KIT

You can always build your own but that's way more hassle and can cost much more to get installed.

The BPS is the only sensor in the intercooler piping. You have to modify the pipe in the phuzzy kit to install the BPS but it's easy enough. I can't tell you about any of the others.
I just talked to Kristian at Snabb and it looks like he'll be making a FMIC kit for the R's now too. I would actually hold off until his is ready. He generally has much better pricing and everything he makes is top notch.

Actually, register on swedespeed and get in on this Group Buy ASAP! You'd get 15% off the normal price.

It also looks like like there is a new pipe for the cold side that goes directly to the throttle body, unlike before.

I believe that Mad Matt is pretty much the authority on intercoolers around here, best do what he says.
