Default Heater problem?

Hi all, newbie here. 2006 S60 2.5T, about 30k miles.

Very very cold morning, -20C, which is below zero F.

Car started without a hitch. Heating fan: nothing for about 5 minutes (I tried auto, then manual settings, nothing), then I heard a noise from the glove box, sounded like ice breaking, then fan started.

Not sure if it's related, but this happened right after I turned on the washer/wipers.

Any ideas what may have happened, and/or if I need to worry?

Thanks.

Sounds like the blower motor might have frozen up. If everything continues to work OK and you have heat then I wouldn't worry.
