I just bought a 2004 S60 2.5T with 51,000 miles on it for $11k out the door. Had the car go through a 6 point inspection before purchase (scary at how many people rely only on CarFax) for just $85.

Report came back saying I just needed to replace the windshield wipers, but I now noticed the trim on the top of the car is incredibly dry & flakes off the car if you touch it. It's also pretty dry along the windshield. Is this something I can afford to wait on replacing until I come across a good deal?

I also thought I had an issue with the alarm not sounding the horn when I arm it, but just read the post that it's supposed to work like that.

Looks like a great forum & hope to get feedback, suggestions and/or tips on maintaining this car so it doesn't turn into a money pit.

Let me re-phrase your statement! What's what you should know about YOUR car! Do you know what your cars previous service history is? Last T-belt change, last full tune up/Stage0, Last Transmission Fluid Change? That's what you should ask as first questions! If you can't come up with an answer, especially for the T-belt, then I would recommend doing a little maintenance so you know what your intervals are. That is the key to maintaining a healthy Volvo on the road! Post pics. of your S60 when you get a chance. Welcome

If it is the trim along the roof line from the windshild to the trunk.I just had to replace 1 side of this.It cost $200 a side for the trim.It is 2 pieces and the other side paint is flaking also.

known problem -most were replaced under warranty that had issues. some people have had success in sanding it and spraying it with plastic binding spray paint
