Default Help - clutch pedal stuck to the floor

Hi guys, did my research but came up with no real answers. 2001 S60 T5

The clutch pedal is stuck on the floor (you can lift it with your hand).

Had to start the car in gear and bring it home in first gear. I assume it's the clutch master that is shot near the tranny.

Open the the bleeder and hear some suck and blow but not much and the brake reservoir is full.

How do you remove the stupid thing? I pulled the clip to remove the line but the rest looks like it's held on but flimsy metal brackets that I'm afraid to snap.

I don't see any fluid anywhere so maybe this is a quick fix - please advise

thanks!

update:

I can fluid loss when we work the clutch pedal - it's running out the weephole on the tranny. Does this mean the only fix is to pull the tranny out?

Yep, sounds like the slave cylinder is leaking

can it be removed/replaced without taking out the tranny? I dont have the replacement part yet but I assume the the clutch master slips over the slave to operate it.

somebody must have done this already...

Nope, trans has to come out. Probably need to replace the clutch too since it is likely saturated with fluid. There's a special tool to install it. I've done a handful of these

oh great! mo money...mo money...mo money.

Why can't replacing a clutch master be easy, external job like on most cars?

Another day to cure the beautiful blonde haired, blued eyed Swedes!

tack så mycket!

How many hour job, the first time, for a 3 out of 5 star shade tree mechanic? What special tool do you need?

Thanks!

The clutch master cylinder isn't hard, but that isn't your problem. The slave cylinder is what actually releases the clutch. Book time is about 8.5 without AWD and 9.5 with AWD. I think it took me 5.5 or 6 the first time, but it would be much more difficult without a lift and trans jack.

The special tool is to compress the teeth on the clutch when installing it.
