Default Help - key sticking in ignition

Hi new here! A week ago while running errands my 2002 s60 awd (91k miles) started acting up when I tried to turn the key in the ignition. At first I thought it was just the wheel locking but it wasn't. After a few hard tries to turn the key I got it to start however ever since when I start/shut down the key feels like it's catching between the II and III position.

With my dad's advice I sprayed a bit of WD40 in the key hole however that has not helped. Does anyone have any idea if this can be fixed without going to a dealer to replace my entire ignition barrel? I'm pretty novice when it comes to car repairs but would appreciate any advice you can give.

Thanks!

Graphite works well with keys that are catching. Also try to move the steering wheel to the right to unlock the steering before you turn the key. I had that trouble last night and moving the wheel did the trick. Can't get much more low budget than these two ideas.

+1 Take some powdered graphite and squirt it into the ignition. Most times this will free things up.
