Default High Pitched Moaning Noise?

Hello folks,

My 2001 S60 T5 has 152,000+ miles on it...it has the automatic transmission. Upon accelerating from a stop, I get a high-pitched moaning noise up to about 10 to 15 mph. A/C is off and it happens whether I'm going straight from a stop or turning from a stop. Any ideas? And apologies if this was addressed somewhere else previously.

Thank you!

Is it for sure based off speed and not RMP's? Where does it sound like its coming from?
Does it do anything at idle parked?

It sounds like its at speed, not RPMs...though when I let off on the gas the moan gets quieter. Sounds like its from under the hood, always the first 10-15 mph.

have you checked your wheel bearings?

jack up the car and try to wobble your wheel (not side to side but from top to bottom) if it wiggles the bearings are worn. easy fix.

Actually, I found out its the front brakes - pads and rotors due after 60+K miles on them.

But thank you for the tip on the wheel bearings. That was the next noise I was going to ask about here. Because that's the higher pitched whine I hear at all speeds that sounds like its coming from the rear wheels.

Its an easy fix?

yeah its an easy fix, just the parts (depending on what options you have on the car) may be a tad pricey

so your brakes were binding? what exactly was going on with them?
