How to change Low Beam
I have 2006 S60 2.5T. I try to change driver side low beam. But it is very difficult to access the bulb as manual mentioned. Is there any trick? I can just put my hand in and touch the wire and can not use any force to pull anything out.

I'm doing the exact same thing & I have a huge hand, but if you look there is a copper colord colored retaining clip that go's over the black light socket & is clipped at the top, if you can unclip it you should be fine.
My problem is that I knocked the retaining out of it's little holder & can't seem to get back in.

You need to remove the black female push on electrical connector first from the two male prongs of the light bulb........wiggle it off without pulling too hard. Then you can get to the pressure spring clip that hold the bulb tightly into the fixture........the top of the spring clip needs to be pushed in and out around the clip groove. Once the clip is unclipped, it pivots down and you can get access to the bulb..........note the raised groove at the top of the bulb............make sure the new replacement bulb is inserted with that raised groove at the top, not the bottom, or it will not seat correctly. Reverse the process to complete the install of the new bulb.

I finally figure out how to remove the S60 2006 2.5T USA model driver side low beam. The service manual is wrong. You don't need remove the connector and there is no clipper. Just turn the whole low beam to counterclockwise 90 degree. Maybe clockwise works also. I wonder why Volvo don't give us correct method? Hope my experience will help you. Today my passenger side low beam is broken also. I will change it today.

Thanks to davidgu0186. You verified what I was noticing. No clip, and you can only remove the connector after you get the bulb out. I spent 45 minutes trying to get the bulb back in, and an extra 45 SECONDS after reading your post about the 1/4 turn. (2005 V70)
Not sure but Maybe there isn't a mechanism that you are turning the bulb into; the 1/4 turn might just be a method to coax the rubber sealing gasket into seating into the hole.

I have the same exact car and the same bulb that needs to be replaced. Can you of you comment on how the low beam bulb looks? I haven't pulled mine out yet, but my manual says it should have 2 prongs, almost like an H7 even though it says the low beam is an H11. I bought an H11 but all the H11s on the market have these right angle connectors on them more akin to high beam bulbs.

Replaced low beam bulb, when trying to fix, connection to bulb created a spark
hey,
I have a 02 s60, I replaced both low beams a couple days ago and last night I noticed that one was still not sitting right. So I started checking and there was a little play from it because I didn’t put in the bulb correctly and was sideways slightly.
so I decided to disconnect the bulb, I grabbed the wire with the connection away from touching metal and proceeded to fix the bulb. As I was just securing the bulb, my arm twitched and the wire touched metal for a slight second and created a spark.
After hooiking up the bulb and turn in the lights, the bulb now won’t turn on(the one I worked on). High beams work just fine, just the bulb that I was messing with is not responding. I checked the fuse and it’s still fine. Any tips? I really don’t want to have to take it to a shop when maybe someone has dealt with this issue

I'm with my current mechanic because he did my pass side XC-70 bulb for $20!!!!!
