I don't think he/she is trying to rip you off:
The s60 in any trim is a heavy car and won't feel as fast as a rice-rocket with the same hp. Even my R doesn't feel as quick as my old GSX. It also seems to have a little more turbo lag than I'd expect. The Audi s4 and the Saab 9-5 that I was also considering both seems to spool at a lower rpm and seemed quicker. But it's the overall package of the s60 that sold me and probabally will you. It's a fanatastic car. Also remember if that t-5 is an auto, then it's 0-60 is over 7 seconds. Still quick, but not neck-snapping quick. Finally, I've spend a lot of time pricing s60s. Used T-5s don't sell for much more than 2.5t's. Sometimes I found them even cheaper.
To try to answer your question, besides the T-5 emblem on the rear, the lesser turbo models will be a 2.4l or 2.5l depending on years. You might check the door jam. Although I never have on the s60, most cars display their information there.

Look at timing belt cover.. it will have a engine # B5234T or on the VIN the 6th and 7th digit would be 53. I previously driven Japanese car before (Subaru Legacy with WRX engine swap) Yes Japanese car feels faster... cuz it's lighter... but if u look at the speedometer it will actually climb faster and a bit more stable in a Volvo.

Hey guys, been lurking for about 3 months now...
My T-5 is kind of a dog around town. Low speeds really arent its forte.Full boost doesnt really kick in till about 2500, and second gear is relatively tall. Tachs out around 55.The B52343 only has a 8.5:1 compression ratio, and its lugging around 3300 lbs of volvo steel all by itself until the turbo spools up. That being said, at any speed over about 60, she is nothing short of EXPLOSIVE. every quick japanese car i've owned seemed to run out of steam over 75-80. Not so with this car. Lets just say she'll do more thanI will, and get there quickly! The fast highway acceleration is really nice on the interstate, and its great to be able to pass someone in a real hurry on a two lane road.
Just my $ .02
EDIT: A SUPER CUTE chick ina 97-98 Cobra felt the need to show me what hers would do on I-77 the other day. I threw my T-5 in third, opened her up, and walked away from the cobra...All stock with 98K on the clock
(and yes, we pulled over later and talked car stuff)
