Is there a trick to getting the steering wheel off?

I can't seem to get it... (trying to stick a flat head screwdriver into the little holes in the back side of the steering wheel, but it doesn't seem to catch on anything.)

Sometimes you really need to feel for the spring.

 

1. How do you "feel for it"?

2. Is there a particular size screwdriver that works best?
3. Does it need to be a flat head?
4. Any pics or diagrams? Angles of approach?


I am getting nervous, as I cannot afford to pay to have this repaired, but would prefer not to kill someone because my steering wheel falls of while driving...
