Immobilizer Ring??
My 2003 Volvo S60 has had intermittent problems with the key not working. The error code for immobilizer ring briefly displayed. After a few minutes, the key works again. I took it to the dealer and it started every time and there was not error code logged. Lately this has been happening more frequently and I am concerned that I will not be able to get it started (it's nice to know you can get home when you go somewhere). It seems related to the anti-theft as when I put the key in the lock and locked and unlocked the car a few times, the key worked again. Yesterday, that didn't work when I got it home in my garage and checked it to see if it would restart. I waited a few hours and tried it again and it started. The dealer has suggested that I have it towed without any further attempts to restart the car. They would then be able to check the error code. However, no error codes have been displayed on my message center. The dealer suggested that they might replace the immobilizer ring. I'm thinking that this guesswork will get expensive. Any thoughts or suggestions?
The standard list for that problem is as follows.
Immoblizer antenna
New key
Immoblizer and all new keys.
Do you have another key you can start using all the time to see if it gets better or stays the same?
