What could cause a knocking sound & pedal pulsation while moving. It seems to get more rapid as the car increases speed. You can feel it in both the brake & gas pedals with you foot resting on either & is audible. This is a 2007 S60 T5. Please help.

 

What kind of gasoline are you using? Have you recently switched from one type to an other?

 

I bought the car at the end of Nov. 2009 so I have been putting 93 octane ever since then. I noticed the knock slightly I just had the tires balanced & rotated & noticed the noise & pulse was much more pronounced immediately. I had the shop look for cupping & balancing issues but they checked & the steering wheel doesn't shake at all. The noise & pulse is very noticeable at 15 to 25 mi. per hour. Do you think it could be a bent axle or CV joint?

 

I can rev the engine or idle it while standing still & no noise or pulse is present. Thank you for any suggestion you may have.

 

Hello, I am having the same problem with my 2001 s60 2.4T as well. I have taken a look at the CV boots etc for any of the tale tale signs of wear but could not find anything. I would also like any additional info on this as well. The noise is pronounced at the same speeds 10-25mph. The pedal does not actually move but if you lightly rest your foot on the gas or brake pedals you can feel knocking type of sensation coming through the pedals.
Any ideas please let me know. Thank you

 

Does the sound only appear while driving straight or is it knocking sounds if driving slow and then turning very sharp to the left or right?

 

Never seen this problem on a 2007 or heard of it... usually axles vibrate under load, and usually not S60s. could be many things...
